Family Photos at Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork

Hey all, I wanted to share a family photo session I did at the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork. Scott has been a best friend to my husband since before I think he can even remember. Just the other night, John and I were watching old home videos and looking back admiringly at his younger self playing with Scott and the two of them getting dressed up for Halloween (John was a clock and Scott was a ghost enthusiastically screaming "boo!" into the camera!). Thinking back on these cherished memories, I was all the more honored that Scott and Natalie chose to spend their anniversary not on a romantic date, although they did go out the night before, but to spend it in front of my camera getting family photos. It was their anniversary and getting family photos was the perfect way to celebrate how their love and relationship has shaped the family and influences how they raise and interact with their children.

There were two moments that really stood out to me in this session. The first was Scott and Natalie's love for each other. After five years with John, I can understand how burned out and tired parents with three little toddlers can get! Scott and Natalie have two extra years on us with their seventh anniversary and their love and respect for each other was shining and radiating off them. When I wanted to take some couples photos of mom and dad, there was no hesitation from them to starting dancing and twirling right there outside the temple. Their love for each other was so genuine and true, it couldn't help but show through in their photos.

Second was their love for their children. They were more than willing to seize the moment with each other for the cutest anniversary photos and they were just as willing to go with the flow and seize the moment with their kids too. When their baby absolutely hated sitting on the grass, we took some pictures of him in mom's lap instead. When I wanted to try a creative idea shooting across the flower beds, they were able to slow down and have an intimate and special moment with the kids. This session was relaxed and casual so that we could be things fun and let their family personality shine through.

Scott and Natalie, thank you for being our friends and bringing and extra level of joy to our lives with your bright smiles and shining light. We are grateful for the influence you have had on us. I really am so honored that you chose to take your family photos with me and look forward to the years of memories we will make in the future as friends. Your whole family looks so amazing in these photos and your family love can be seen in every one.

I had to include this last one of the baby crying in the grass because not everything is always going to be picture perfect, especially when raising a family. We find joy in the imperfect moments and that's what makes them even more beautiful than some of the perfect moments.
